New article about Fred's painting in Dagbladet.

Franks tavla var ett riktigt konstklipp

Vilket klipp.

Auktionen i Sundsvall inbringade totalt 5 000 kronor.

Welcome to the salon! Join us in a land of golden frames, wide landscapes, fleshy nudes and exuberant still life works. Where demons of etching scream from dusty corners and city streets curl in maps of desire. Fragments of eternal realities and glimpses of other worlds embrace in a terminal dance of oily fluids.

Constellations of contemporary paintings, etchings, drawings and film, of two parts. Gathered on the banks of the River Lea, Hackney, London, examined, selected and relocated to the Mersey, Liverpool, this salon explores traditional subject matter, densely hung and re-framed for modern eyes.

TTela Newspaper article about The (deviant) Art Festival 2008

NÖJE & KULTUR
Opretentiös konst för alla
Publicerad 26 juni 2008 kl 4.15.

Fred showing two new Artist books at ENDERS 1:

ENDERS 1:
Some Things Worth Knowing

25th June - 6th July

Opening Wednesday 25th June 6-9pm

Alex Bowen + Niall MacDonald + Sarah McNulty

Sayshun Jay + JD Hollingshead + Joe Watling + David Smith

Tomaz Kramberger + Alex Schneider + Natalie Sanders

Mark Metcalfe + Janice Harding + Fred(rik) T Lindberg

Tim Pratt + Flore Nové-Josserand + Steve Hall + Edward Newton

Cedric Christie + Emmett Walsh + Jay Tan + Craig Andrews

For it's inaugural show, ENDERS presents an unthemed group show.

Each artist has been invited to exhibit some thing they feel merits awareness.

Nothing particularly different from what they should be doing anyway, except the title also allows for the exhibition of articles outside of the artist's usual practice and reemphasises value exchange between producer and audience.

Therefore, the show will consist of a mixture of artist's works alongside objects/information, which reflect an artist's interests.

UNEXPECTED ITEM is an Art writing Fanzine ran and created by Peter Rich and Gregory Sodergren.
In this second issue of the zine Fred has contributed with five poems written in 2007. Here is one of them:

Domestic crises by Fred

The moment for honest conversation
was clearly not now

The air infected with germs
and bad sleep

The night`s were cold
yet wet from sweat (get up and change the sheets)

The early sleepless mornings
was a constant headache

I stroked some blue hair from her forehead and said:

don't worry honey
It`s not us
It`s just the flu

THE PRESIDENT IS DEAD!

Charlton Heston said: They will have to rip my rifle from my cold dead hands!
Well, now the iconic actor who used Hollywood to create a righteous and heroic character of himself, is dead. He used this image of himself frequently as a spokesman and President of the NRA (National Rifle Association) to fight for every Americans right to wear arms.
Personally I have to struggle to feel any loss.
Personally I wont be seeing him in hell cause it doesn't exist.
And even if it does... That's not where I'm going.

Alterpreconsistancy: The Manifesto

ART

To justify artist’s professional, parasitic and elite status in society,

He must demonstrate artist’s indispensability and exclusiveness,

he must demonstrate the dispensability of audience upon him,

he must demonstrate that no one but the artist can do art.

FLUXUS ART-AMUSEMENT

To establish artist’s nonprofessional status in society,

He must demonstrate artist’s dispensability and inclusiveness,

he must demonstrate the selfsufficiency of the audience,

he must demonstrate that anything can be art and anyone can do it.

ALTERPRECONSISTANCY

To realize artist’s alterprefessional status in society,

He must demonstrate partial artistic consistency and elusiveness,

he must demonstrate with the audience against art.

he must demonstrate that he consists of concepts, and the only thing consistent is the prediction (presence) of death.

Therefore, art must appear complex, pretentious, profound, serious, intellectual, inspired, skillful, significant, theatrical, it must appear to be valuable as commodity so as to provide the artist with an income.

To raise its value (artist’s income and patrons profit), art is made to appear rare, limited in quantity and therefore obtainable and accessible only to the social elite and institutions.

Therefore, art-amusement must be simple, amusing, unpretentious, concerned with insignificances, require no skill or countless rehearsals, have no commodity or institutional value.

The value of art-amusement must be lowered by making it unlimited, massproduced, obtainable by all.

Fluxus art-amusement is the rear-guard without any pretention or urge to participate in the competition of “one-upmanship” with the avant-garde. It strives for the monostructual and nonheatrical qualities of simple natural event, a game or gag. It is the fusion of Spike Jones, Vaudeville, gag, children’s games and Duchamp.

Therefore, alterpreconsistancy is a unique practice without any pretentiousness, concerned only with a severe will to merge art and life, require only self chosen skill and any or none institutional value.

The values of being alterpreconsistant must be highlighted by determination and belief in one’s own obtained practice of making art.

Alterpreconsistinism is to participate in the competition off enjoyment. It strives to revolt against any elite, including its own.

Any game, prank or fusion of artistic styles to spite institutions are highly promoted.

Cultural Magazine: Creaturmag publishes work by Fred

Image of Fred's work "communication" published in Issue 5, Lost and Found.

Within issue 5 we aim to consider this in relation to the theme “lost and found”. What have we discovered through noticing? What do we lose by not noticing? Why do some notice and others ignore and discard? Is our society losing awareness or do we live in a cluttered culture where with so many 'things' we are simply becoming ignorant?

We hope you enjoy the show...

Extraction of REVIEW by Alison Carter regarding Fred's work.

REVIEW by Alison Carter

The (deviant) ART Festival

Pumphuset Gallery, Trollhättan, Sweden. 14 – 23 July 2006.

"In the video installation ‘In Search of the Miraculous II’, Fred Lindberg stands by a canal in the dark and then sets fire to his jacket, which catches and flares in the night. He waits until it’s burning steadily, and then carefully removes it, together with his shirt, trousers and underwear and adds them to the pyre. Naked, he dives into the blackness of the water, and does not re-surface. The piece pays homage to Bas Jan Ader, the Dutch artist whose own disappearance became – intentionally or not – part of his work. Another piece, ‘Artist Feals Fat’ (sic), is a series of photos documenting himself cutting the word FAT into his stomach with a blade. There is, needless to say, barely a spare centimetre of flesh on Lindberg’s torso – and certainly no fat. He revels in provocation, and is prepared to test himself to physical limits with wit –despite some quirky spelling."

This is an extraction of the review, read the whole piece at:
http://deviantartfestival.blogspot.com/

Add posted in the paper as a part of the "Fat" piece.

Reads:
"Artist is feeling fat and wants to trade all his artworks in his possession for a liposuction.
Call for agreement.

FRED&GREG at Institute Of Contemporary Art, I.C.A.

I.C.A turned upside-down on the 5th of June.

Goldsmith’s I.D.E.A, invites Guerrilla Art Unit brought together by the legendary Bob&Roberta Smith to perform at the I.C.A.
This event will take place all day on the 5th of June.
Included in this group is Fred&Greg, a multi cultural Art duo known from their performance appearances in East-London.
At this event working under one of their suitable trade mark slogans
“We propose to appose, we refuse to abuse.”
Among many things they will be challenging the audience by getting their shoes of in a “barefoot-protest against war and bureaucracy” as well as the exhibitors by offering to approve anyone or anything they see fit as an “officially approved work of art by Fred&Greg”.

This take-over bid of one of London’s highly regarded art institutions promises to be a feast of music, theatrics, controversy and humour.

Expect the unexpected…
